You are CEO of Your Body

by Justin Qualler on June 2, 2009

It’s easy to complain about how things are run at work, in the country, even in your home.

But before criticizing others, we should take a hard look at how we manage the one thing we have total control over (unless you’re in prison)–what we take in to our body.

Here’s a list of food and drink you probably know isn’t healthful, but indulge in anyway:

  • soda
  • pizza
  • fast food
  • white bread
  • sugar
  • alcohol

Get the book on the right to learn how to cook foods that are better for you.

There’s no reason to get into the weak-minded “all things in moderation” statement. We need to examine whether we are addicted to these things, and, if so, continually work on making better choices.

We need to examine whether the crappy food is headed towards our mouth without consciously realizing we are placing something in our body that is deleterious to health. Or, worse, we need to recognize if we’re using consciousness to rationalize our poor choices.

In either case, at the point that you’re stuffing yourself with bad food, you must realize you’re more animal than man. We’ve all put bad things in our body, and we may do it again, I’m just saying that we should be honest about it and admit that we’re too weak, too addicted, too lazy to make a better choice.

Imagine how much better your health and outlook would be if you only took in life-giving foods like leafy greens, beans, nuts, and lean meats.

Imagine how empowered you would feel if you could dial down your animal instinct and reject foods you know to be poor choices, even in the face of social pressure.

And, if you still want to complain about the way others handle their affairs, you’ll be on better footing now that you have more control over your own.
