I think deep breathing has cured my allergies. Of course, there are too many variables to truly ascertain what stopped me from sneezing, wheezing, and getting puffy eyes at particular times of the year, so take that as my disclaimer.
Since deep breathing, however, I’ve felt better and more energetic. I feel like I’m able to use my lungs more effectively.
And why not? Breathing is something we do everyday and take it for granted. Why not spend 3-5 minutes every morning training this vital function? That’s all it took for me to “cure” my allergies.
Here is the breathing exercise I am doing:
Exhale all breath, force out every last breath, grunt to get it out if you have to. As you exhale, lower your arms down as if you are pushing the air out of your lungs. Finish with your arms down in front of your stomach, somewhat curved.
Pause for 5 seconds after you exhale all the air you can. Then, allow air to come in (it will flow in as though you are a vacuum sucking it in, at first). As air fills your stomach, raise your arms. Fill your stomach, then your chest, and finally your neck with air.
Pause. Hold this for about five seconds. Then exhale and repeat 3-5 times. This exercise will give you great breath control, teach you to use your entire lungs when respirating, and, maybe help you with your allergies.
