Cure Your Cardio Addiction

by Justin Qualler on April 16, 2010

There are few things that look as goofy to me as a human riding an exercise machine.

One, it’s ironic to me that people pay to go to a place where they can do nearly the same thing outside (in fresh air) for free. Two, is the way people swear by doing this cardio thing. Three, it’s hilarious that our way to combat our increasingly sedentary lifestyle is by cooping people up in a room and then giving them exercise machines that make them look funny, like the elliptical.

As a recovering workout-aholic, I can tell you, if you’re obsessed with cardio, you have a problem. If you can’t get off the machine, you might need to seek help. The good news is, I’ve just read a study that shows the long duration cardio is not as effective as shorter, more intense exercise.

I’m guessing that most people who fail to lose weight are sabotaging their results by riding the cardio wave.
