A journey into isometric structure

What is isometric structure you ask. It’s how you hold your body, in place, isometrically. The muscles are tight, but not changing length.

Repatterning your body. Reorganizing your structure. Tucking your butt under to get rid of your anterior pelvic tilt.

All these things and more.

It’s been a long journey for me. As a desk worker who let himself sit and slump too long…perhaps burdened unnecessarily by the idea of being a desk jockey.

So, I’m making amends and improving my posture and it’s been a while and holy shit.

I should pause here and mention that I got this term and these ideas from Jon Hansen in his book “Warrior’s Way.” In that book he explains basically how a chump turns into a champ–without exercise.

You can train your body just by holding it in the correct posture.

Look around the author says. Look at Jack Palance. Watch him do one arm push ups in his 70s. Look at pro athletes. Do they have anterior pelvic tilt?

No way.

It’s a simple matter made complicated by the fact you have to learn to hold this all day long. Even now I feel myself sliding. I’m out of practice.

But I’m telling you this because there is a magic sequence of walking, learning isometric structure, and stretching that gives you this body awareness and this vitality that I think you’ll find you really like.
