Incorporating isometrics into your program

What are isometrics?

A black art?

Voodoo magic?

All of the above?

To me, isometrics are a sort of voodoo magic in that in terms of practical strength, you really can’t beat them.

Practical strength: carrying kids, groceries, stuff around the yard. Pushing things. Pulling things. In fact most things you’re doing some sort of isometric hold. Even cutting your veggies.

Isometrics help you learn to use your body, control your body, and just be better with your body.

I’ve written elsewhere on this site about isometrics:

And more. But in this post I’m sharing a ~7 minute video on isometrics designed to talk about the body awareness aspect of isometrics:

One of my favorite ways to incorporate isometrics is to do the Gama exercise – wrap a belt around a tree and try to pick it up.

Sure, your neighbors might give you a look. But–I can guarantee no one fucks with the man who is seen in public trying to rip a tree out of the ground.
