Current training, August 2022

The summer is winding down. August has been busy with house painting…up on a ladder, listening to YouTube’s and podcasts and doing my thing.

This work, coupled with other house work has slowed down my training but I have been focusing on the following:

  1. Deadlifts (2-4 days per week, 2-3 sets of 5)
  2. Snatches (2 days per week, 1-2 sets of 15 or so)
  3. KB presses (2-3 days per week, 2-3 sets of 5-8)
  4. Dips (1-2 days per week, 1-2 sets of 8-10)
  5. TGUs (1-2 days per week, 1-2 sets of 2 reps)
  6. Curl and presses (3-4 times per month, 1-2 sets of reps to fatigue)
  7. Leg raises (sporadically whenever I feel like it)

Of course, this is on top of Baseline Fitness. Baseline Fitness is 30 minutes brisk walking, 10K steps, and isometric structure…plus some diet stuff, particularly moderating Caffeine, Alcohol, and Sugar.

And it’s in addition to moving the ladder and hanging on for dear life. Although, after some time on the ladder you begin to get your confidence and it takes less energy…the fear of falling is less.

For most of the exercises I’m doing 1-2 sets and 5-10 reps. TGUs have lower reps and snatches and leg raises higher.

I’m developing strength, which is the point. My workouts are short and brief and usually feature only one or two exercises from the list above.

In September and October I’m planning to do a lot of tree work, so that will also keep my exercise volume lower. Come winter, I think I’ll be able to increase the volume.
